  • Full-time Faculty position in Philosophy

The Madrid (Spain) campus of Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit, American institution, dedicated to student learning, research, service and healthcare, invites applications for a full-time appointment in the Department of Philosophy to begin in September 2023.

The AOS is open; the AOC is also open, but with a preference for feminist philosophy. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who can bring new areas of expertise to a department whose existing strengths include ethics, social and political philosophy, philosophy of mind, Latin American philosophy and phenomenology. Interest in teaching philosophy of feminism is also desirable. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in philosophy, have demonstrated potential for undergraduate teaching excellence and an active research program.

  • Saint Louis University Associate Dean - Humanities and Social Sciences

Start Date: January 2023

Saint Louis Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, invites applications from internal candidates for the position of Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Appointment: Associate Academic Deans are appointed by the Academic Dean in consultation with the faculty and the Provost. See "Participation in the Selection and Evaluation of Administrators." The appointment ordinarily is a twelve-month commitment, renewable annually. In consultation with division faculty members, the Associate Academic Dean position normally rotates every three to five years.

Responsibilities: The Associate Academic Dean reports to the Academic Dean of the Madrid Campus. S/he is the academic leader and administrative head of an academic unit associated with a School or College of the University. As such, s/he executes the policies and regulations of both the Madrid Campus and of the University and ensures that all aspects of the academic programs are coordinated with the corresponding College or School on the St. Louis Campus. S/he consults with Chairpersons and Program Directors to ensure that academic units at the Madrid Campus establish goals and develop and assess their curricula and academic programs in light of University standards. With Chairpersons and Program Directors, the Associate Academic Dean promotes excellence in teaching, research and service, encouraging and stimulating faculty members in professional development. The Associate Academic Dean reviews the performance of Chairpersons and Program Directors annually, discussing the evaluation before sending it on to the Academic Dean.

The Associate Academic Dean recommends merit salary increases and other compensation within the limits of available funds. The Associate Academic Dean is also responsible for recommending the appointments and renewal of appointments of Chairpersons, Program Directors, and other academic personnel of the Madrid Campus. When hiring for these positions, the Associate Academic Dean will consult with the affected faculty to the extent appropriate to the position. After consultation with the Chairperson or Program Director, the Associate Academic Dean makes recommendations to the Academic Dean for faculty appointments, promotion, leaves of absence, termination, and faculty workloads.

At SLU-Madrid, the Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences currently oversees eight academic units, led by their respective program directors or chairs: Communication, English, ESL & Modern Languages, Fine & Performing Arts, Humanities, Political Science & International Studies, Psychology and Spanish.

This position is open only to internal candidates - part-time and full-time faculty. Candidates are expected to have a proven experience in terms of curricula and course development, program management, assessment, administration, and recruitment. The Search Committee will review all applications and will proceed to an initial evaluation based on two main criteria: the content of the application in relation to the position and the experience of the applicant. The Search Committee reserves the right to exclude applications that wouldn't meet the qualification required for the position.

Candidates shortlisted will be informed by the Search Committee. They will then be asked to:

- Interview with the search committee.
- Present their vision and program to the SLU-Madrid community.
- Meet with specific stakeholders to discuss their goals and vision further.

The Search Committee will deliberate based on qualitative criteria and on feedback collected during the selection process. It will then recommend candidates to the Academic Dean of the Madrid Campus.

The selected candidate as Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences will start from January 1, 2023.

  • Full-time Faculty position in Earth Sciences

  • Part-time Faculty Position in Computer Engineering

The Madrid (Spain) Campus of Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, dedicated to student learning, research, service and healthcare, is seeking applicants for a part-time faculty position in the Department of Engineering at the Madrid campus to begin in September 2022.

The successful candidate will hold a Master or PhD degree in Computer Engineering along with evidence of undergraduate teaching.
Teaching interests of the candidate should align in one or more of the following areas: electronics, computer systems, digital logic, electronic measurement, and instrumentation, electrical and/or computer laboratories.
