  • Part time position in Mathematics for Spring 2019

Department of Mathematics & Computer Science

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, invites applications for a part-time instructor of Statistics to teach Foundation of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at its Madrid, Spain campus. Teaching dates are May 20-June 20, 2019, and the class hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays either from 9:00 to 11:40, from 15:00 to 17:10, or from 17.30 to 19:40.

The course covers descriptive statistics, probability distributions, random variables, expectation, independence, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression and ANOVA.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics, evidence of teaching excellence, fluency in English (the language of instruction), and legal permission to work in Spain.

TWELVE-MONTH RENEWABLE FULL-TIME POSITION IN PRE-1800 ENGLISH LITERATURE

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, invites applications for a twelve-month full-time position in its Madrid Campus English Department. We seek candidates in pre-1800 English literature, especially those who demonstrate additional expertise in Transnational Studies, Mediterranean studies, or Creative Writing. The position, to begin September 1, 2019, is for 12 months, renewable and continuing by mutual agreement.

The teaching responsibility is 6 courses (18 credits) per year and includes all levels of literature and first-year writing. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, a productive research agenda, and willingness to engage in advising and service to develop our small, dynamic Department and Campus programs, including the B.A. in English.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in pre-1800 English literature by August 15, 2019, have published in the field of the position, and demonstrate teaching and research excellence. Teaching experience in literature and first-year writing, experience with diverse student populations, and knowledge of Spanish are helpful.

The Madrid (Spain) Campus of Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, dedicated to student learning, research, service and healthcare, is seeking applicants for a full-time position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Division of Science & Engineering for Spring 2019 (January 2019).

Interested applicants should have a valid work permit in Spain. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Applications are sought in all areas of computer science, with particular emphasis on, but not limited to, the following areas: big data analytics, artificial intelligence, databases management systems, database applications, software engineering or related fields.

Successful candidate will be expected:

To teach Computer Science at undergraduate levels. The course load is up to 6 courses per academic year.
To demonstrate potential in research
To supervise undergraduate research students [capstone projects].
To establish externally funded research programs.
To be active in science popularization, non-formal education, and be involved in service activities such as the promotion of SLU-Madrid computer Science program.
